Hands On Mississippi
Hands On Mississippi’s exhibit will reflect the life of a volunteer in the days and weeks immediately after Hurricane Katrina — and over several years of recovery.
The exhibit will recreate the spartan living condition of a typical Hurricane Katrina volunteer, showing the conditions endured during the most trying time in the history of the Gulf Coast. The exhibit will replicate living arrangements, showcase equipment used and he type of service jobs required of volunteers.
In addition, Hands On will have a “Hands of Volunteers” living piece of art: An iconic “blue tarp,” representative of the thousands of tarps covering Gulf Coast homes in the recovery process, will be ysed to record the volunteer stories 10 years later.
Whether you were a volunteer or were touched by the generosity of a volunteer, visit the exhibit and leave your message, photos, or hand print.
